1. The short version

Moni is designed to keep your financial information private. There is no account system, no advertising, no analytics or tracking, and we never sell your data. Information you enter by hand stays on your device.

2. Data you enter manually

Transactions, accounts, budgets, categories and settings that you create in Moni are stored only on your iPhone or iPad. They are not uploaded to SHOKEN INC. servers, because Moni does not run a server that stores your bookkeeping data.

3. Optional bank connection (Plaid)

Bank sync is an optional Moni Pro feature. If you choose to use it:

  • The connection is provided by Plaid Inc. You sign in to your bank inside Plaid's secure flow — Moni never sees, receives, or stores your bank username or password.
  • The connection is read-only. Moni can view transactions and balances in order to import them; it cannot move money or make changes at your bank.
  • Transaction data imported through Plaid is stored on your device, alongside your manual entries.
  • Plaid processes your bank information under Plaid's own privacy policy, available at plaid.com/legal.
  • You can disconnect a bank at any time in the app. When you disconnect, the access token for that connection is deleted, and Moni can no longer access that bank.

4. No account, no sign-up

Moni does not ask you to create an account, and does not collect your name, email address, or phone number in order to use the app. Subscriptions (Moni Pro) are purchased through Apple's App Store and are handled by Apple.

5. No ads, no analytics, no tracking

Moni contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking tools. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

6. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your bookkeeping data with third parties for marketing. The only external service involved in the app's features is Plaid, and only if you choose to connect a bank.

7. Deleting your data

You are in control of your data. You can delete individual transactions and accounts at any time, and you can erase your Moni data from within Settings in the app. Uninstalling the app also removes its locally stored data from your device.

8. Security

Because manual data never leaves your device, it is protected by your device's own security — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS encryption. Bank connections use Plaid's secure infrastructure and encrypted transport.

9. Children

Moni is a personal finance tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at https://shoken.ca/moni-privacy with a new effective date.
